"Telluride"

I painted this from a photo I took on the bridge over the river near the Teluride city park.  I have painted this scene twice before on 8x10 and a 9x12 canvases.  I knew it would be a difficult painting and wanted to try it on smaller canvases before attempting it in a larger version.  I'm not entirely  pleased with the mountians in the background, but I don't know how to fix them at this time.  Maybe the solution will occur to me later.

Spring Greens

"Spring Greens"

I painted this scene from a photo I took near Gunnison, Colorado last year.  When we travel through that part of the country, we often stop at a rest stop before we get to Blue Mesa Reservoire and take a walk along the river.  The photo of this scene was taken from the bridge that crosses a stream that flows into the river.  It is such a beautiful area--this painting really takes me back!

I took a photo of this old wagon years ago in a small town in Colorado.  It was early fall and the leaves were just beginning to turn color.

A View Through the Trees

"A View Through the Trees"
oil on linen canvas board

I have painted this Colorado scene in the past, but I decided to try painting it on alkyd primed linen canvas rather than acrylic primed canvas.  What a difference!  I love this canvas!  I am scheduled to teach a oil painting class in a few weeks and I wanted to find a subject that I could do a painting demonstration for the students in one fairly short session.  I think this will work.

A Good Morning

"A Good Morning"

When hiking with my family in Colorado last summer, I took a photo of this fisherman fishing at one of the gorgeous lakes we hiked to.  It was a long and strenous hike to this lake but well worth the climb.  It was a glorious morning and I'm glad to have this painting to remember it by!
